We've had a little surprise here. Well 9 of them actually. We have a group of chickens that we recovered from the goose rescue earlier in the year that have never properly integrated and are living with the pigs the last few months. One of them turned up with babies in the pig paddock! We do let our birds have as close to a natural set up as we can. We don't separate the male birds and they don't live in cages. They get to scratch, peck and dust bath all they like. They can roam freely but we usually know all the nesting spots to remove eggs but have obviously missed her. We are not set up for chicks so have moved her and her babies to a safer area away from the pigs. Is so lovely seeing her being a mother and having these little fluff balls running around.
